This was a spectacular trip to Maui. The temperatures were moderate with no trade winds, no rain, just tropical breezes and record numbers of humpback whales. Visibility at Molokini Backwall was 200' plus. We listened to and recorded whale songs under water. Enjoyed breeching and tale slaps from the dive boat. The crater inside was more crowded with boats than in past visits, but we still were able to secure a couple of nice dives. Red Hill is close to shore at Wailea. Reminded me of Mushroom Forest in Curacao in some places. This is where we saw five or six turtles resting on the reef, the frogfish and the sponge crab.
We also enjoyed Old Airport, a shore dive, and snorkeled at Black Rock

The staff at Sunset Waters made us feel welcome with both professional and personable hospitality. We found the dive operation a spirited group. They made sure all of our dive expectations were met.
On this particular trip we met divers from all over the United States and Canada that we have stayed in touch with.
One of our most memorable dives was a drift dive that took us through three dive sites for a distance of a mile and a half. The entire dive, schools of fish in great numbers were present like ribbons of color along side.
