Exercise Program Recommendations for Scuba Divers

Based on Correlation Between Diver’s Alert Network (DAN) Reported Medical Conditions in Scuba Divers, and the American Heart Association (AHA) and American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) Guidelines for Physical Activity.
June 2008

As a bridge of information between scuba diving and the world of fitness, this writing is an overview of sources from both industries including Diver’s Alert Network (DAN) information, five book reviews, articles from major dive publications, references, resources, websites and links. My goal is to summarize relative information and formulate basic exercise protocols specific to our current diver population.

You’re invited to share additional information and personal experience for discussion. Responses to this article can be posted on the message board or sent via e-mail. I look forward to sharing my passion for diving and fitness with practical hands-on exercise recommendations, fitness therapy programs, nutritional tips, recipes, question-and-answer sessions, lively discussion and mutual motivation to stay ScubaFit.
